New Believer

Welcome to the family of God!

You caused a

Party

Whether you realize it or not, you caused a party in Heaven when you gave your life to Christ. Jesus said, “Likewise, I say to you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

(Luke 15:10) According to the Bible, the moment you received Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and Savior, the following things have taken place in your life:

John 5:24, 1 John 1:9

You’ve been forgiven for all your sins and granted eternal life

Romans 10:13

You’ve been saved

John 3:3-5

You’ve been born again

John 1:12-13

You’ve become a child of

Ephesians 1:13-14

You’ve been indwelt and sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise

Ephesians 2:19, Philippians 3:17-20

You’ve become a citizen of the Kingdom of God

new

creation

You have been made completely new! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

There are two Greek words which are translated “new” in the Bible. The first, neos, refers to something that has just been made, but there are already many others in existence just like it.

The word translated “new” in this verse is the word kainos, which means “something just made which is unlike anything else in existence.” In Christ, we are made an entirely new creation, just as God created the heavens and the earth originally.

He made them out of nothing, and so He does with us. He does not merely clean up our old selves; He makes an entirely new person. When we are in Christ, we are “partakers of the divine nature” (2 Peter 1:4). God Himself, in the person of His Holy Spirit, takes up residence in our hearts. We are in Christ and He is in us.

Neil T. Anderson writes: “Understanding your identity in Christ is essential for living the Christian life. People cannot consistently behave in ways that are inconsistent with the way they perceive themselves. You don’t change yourself by your perception.

You change your perception of yourself by believing the truth. If you perceive yourself wrongly, you will live wrongly because what you are believing is not true. If you think you are a no-good bum, you will probably live like a no-good bum. If however, you see yourself as a child of God who is spiritually alive in Christ, you will begin to live accordingly.

Next to a knowledge of God, a knowledge of who you are is by far the most important truth you can possess. The major strategy of Satan is to distort the character of God and the truth of who we are. He can’t change God and he can’t do anything to change our identity and position in Christ. If however, he can get us to believe a lie, we will live as though our identity in Christ isn’t true.”

What's

Next?

After getting saved and starting a new life in Christ, you may be wondering what to do next. We believe four of the most important things that you need to do immediately are:

1. Get water baptized.

2. Be discipled by someone.

3. Seek to be filled/baptized with the Holy Spirit.

4. Develop a strong personal walk with God by being spiritually disciplined in following areas.

(These 4 areas are: a) Daily walk of reading your Bible and praying. b) Go to church. c) Fellowship with other believers. d) Share your faith. e) Give unto the Lord).
